Accounting firm Strothman and Co. is merging with Ecken & Smith PSC.
“We share a similar desire to serve all of our clients with many years of combined experience in a caring, hands-on manner,” Smith said in a news release.
The transaction closed Nov. 1, and financial terms were not disclosed. Strothman is the much larger company in this. Ecken & Smith had about six accountants prior to the merger, and Strothman had more than 40, according to our most recent list of the area’s largest accounting firms. The combined company will have about 70 employees in three offices — downtown Louisville, Southern Indiana and Middletown.
Strothman and Co. was founded nearly 35 years ago and focuses on serving entrepreneurs. Ecken & Smith has been around since 1992 and served clients in tax preparation and planning, audits, business valuations, personal financial planning, litigation support and accounting services.
“Ron, Joyce and I all previously worked for [PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP], so I’ve known them for many years,” Bill Meyer, managing partner of Strothman and Co., said in the release. “They also serve many entrepreneurial businesses and will be a great fit with our firm.”
